Without any scriptural support, I'm going to assume that they do to some extent. If they didn't, how could Lucifer have rebelled against God?

It's just so hard to fully comprehend WHY an Angel would choose to rebel against the Lord when they know him for whom he is.

I do not see much difference in the angel Satan rebelling, and a Believer rebelling (sinning) when they know who God is. I think your statement applies to those who believe Christ is the Son of God; it is hard to comprehend why they would continue in sin. Thanks RC

The fact that satan sinned against God while seeing His full glory is a warning to all men to be satisfyied with faith for Christ is correct that there is only grace and forgiveness in our faith but none if we claim to have seen the glory of God. Thus, blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. Christ prayed, Father forgive them for they know not what they do, and yet some do. Angels have a good view of what is going on and would have no excuse for sin as we do. For to whom much is given, much is required. Hence, they would find it harder to even contemplate sinning whereas we do not.

Shalom, Preludeian. quote:
ORIGINAL: Preludeian It's just so hard to fully comprehend WHY an Angel would choose to rebel against the Lord when they know him for whom he is. Maybe it's because we really don't even know WHAT an angel is! The Hebrew word is "mal'akh" and the Greek word is "aggelos" (from which the word "angel" was TRANSLITERATED) and both mean "messenger!" That's all; that's it! Now, a "messenger" COULD be some non-physical creature, I suppose, but I believe that many of the Scriptural passages that use the words above should have been taken to be HUMAN messengers! Let me give you a "for-instance." Consider the following passage: Matt 11:7-11 7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. KJV The word translated "messenger" here in verse 10 is the same Greek word "aggelos!" Yet, do we say that John the Baptist was a non-physical creature that we today call an "angel?" No, of course not! The word was properly TRANSLATED here. Now, look at I Peter 1: 1 Peter 1:3-12 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. KJV Here in verse 12, the Greek word "aggeloi," the plural of "aggelos," was merely TRANSLITERATED into "angels!" (The Greek gamma-gamma ["gg"] has the "ng" sound.) The context tells one who these "messengers" are: They are GOD'S "messengers," the PROPHETS, who wished they could have understood better the salvation that we have experienced through Yeshua` the Messiah (Jesus Christ)! There have been so many speculations associated with this verse 12, when really had the speculators known the word correctly, their misunderstanding would have been cleared up in a single moment! Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? So they could be called ministering spirit messengers who care for the heirs of salvation. I like to think I have one looking over my shoulder. Bob

There could be so many reasons an angel might leave. For instance, jealously over either his power or over the love he has for humans, as he created us in his image. Also, the devil is the great deceiver. I'm sure that many angels, who are now part of his army, have been deceived in some way or another.
