I posted this on the main women only forum, but I think it is better suited here.

Hi Everyone.

I posted about 4 months ago, when I started with some trouble with a bladder infection. The infection went away, but the feeling of a full bladder stayed - and is still around after all this time. I have seem my doctor, a gyny, and a urologist. I finally asked to have my hormone levels checked and it turns out I am in full menopause (47 year old - FSH levels sky high). So my doctor put me on estrogen suppositories, which I have only used for 4 days now.

Has anyone else dealt with issues of low estrogen and increased urinary tract infections or even just the symptoms of a UTI without the bacterial infection? Have you had success with estrogen supplements? I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know.

Thanks and God Bless.

Mary

I have interstitial cystitis that kind of mimics a UTI w/o the infection. I am self-diagnosed because medical treatment is horrible for this condition. If you react to eating or drinking anything acidic, then you may have this. Drink lots of water & see how you feel afterwards. There's lots of information online on how to treat this condition nutritionally. IC is common for women during the menopause years. I developed it at age 42. kd

Thank you so much for your reply. I have been on the IC site quite a bit and have had some helpful advice from there. I have been on the IC diet for 3 months now - I MISS COFFEE! I really notice the difference when I stay on the bland foods. The acidic ones tell me pretty quickly that I shouldn't eat them. The estrogen seems to be helping, but I am not without symptoms yet.

What have you found helpful for IC? I know what you mean about self-diagnosis. I have NO interest in finding out for sure (at least yet). Those tests scare me a lot!

How are you managing the IC? Did you ever try or consider estrogen?

I wish you well, and God Bless you!

I would be careful of self-diagnosis of interstital cystitis...simply because the symptoms are the same as those for bladder cancer, which is also very common in women over the age of 40.
