They'd like us to restart long thread at the beginning of the year. Welcome to the new garage thread. Come on in and hang out for a while. Grab a lawn chair and tell us what's on your mind.

Was cold and nasty these past couple of days, so us guys have been hiding out inside to enjoy some good food and football on the big screen while the girls went to hunt for New Years deals. Lots of changes coming... many good seniors graduating and maybe, just maybe heading to pro. The girls came in blabbed about getting the last of some American Girl dolls no longer offered after today.

Staying home and watching football sounds a lot more fun than bargain hunting for dolls any day.

We did go to the grocery store yesterday. They were a lot less busy than the day before. Seems most stores have normal hours on New Year's Day. It used to be that most all of them would be closed...not anymore.

I did get to spend some quality time with the wood pile...making little ones out of big ones. The same as last year, the wood pile has been neglected so that I could spend more time with the grandson. Which is more important?

So there's only a week's worth of wood split. And that is soaked and frozen. It has to be brought inside in order to thaw out and eventually dry enough to burn. At least I made some progress.

At this rate, I have several years worth of wood left on the wood pile. Whenever that's gone, the wood burning stove is getting replaced with natural gas. I'm just gettin' too old for this.

Do you have to do any snow shoveling?

Well, don't hurt yerself.

I have a snowblower, but so far this season, haven't had it out. It's only snowed a couple of times and never more than an inch or so. Not worth getting it out. Probably should make sure it still runs though.

You can still get a workout using a snowblower sometimes. But it's nowhere as bad as shoveling.

Ooooo a Gibson.

I"ve got a couple Taylors, a Sigma and a Fender Strat. I also play the trumpet and have several of those. My daughter gave me three harmonicas for Christmas.

love my guitar. had it going on 20 years and finally gotten around to learning to play it. have a couple hand made fiddles and a few electric instruments but give me an old guitar and let me play till i fall asleep. and have a few times with guitar in hands.

a harmonica i love to hear. to me the 2 prettiest ways to hear amazing grace is on a bagpipe and on a harmonica. leave vocals elsewhere. just the sound of the music gives me chills

Last Sunday we had a huge snow fall, but for the last few days just light sprinkles so no shoveling needed.

It is extremely windy and cold for this time of the year.

Right now I'm at my sister's house in Smithville, MS. We're only a few miles from Alabama.

I'd love to see those hand made fiddles. Bagpipes are one of my favorites too. I should get one, just for the annoyance factor.

Glad the trip went well. You just missed the biggest blast of cold and snow we've seen in south for many decades. Hope you thaw out a bit and enjoy the warmer weather.

We were hoping for the warmer weather that would have been seasonal for our trip to MS. Instead we got a cold snap. It was in the teens and 20's the whole time we were in MS, not the 40's and 50's we were hoping for. We coulda stayed in Michigan for teens and 20's.

At least I got to see my parents and my sister and her family. My nephew got married My parents are in their 70's, still living on their own. While we were there, we went over some of their financial things and wills and paperwork and all of that.

Any of you have to deal with stuff like that?
