I believe, honestly, God has called me to be a follower. I see also when I am a good follower, that puts the leader where God can use him to the utmost. This way of thinking began in 1988, after I got involved in Prison Fellowship, Angel Tree, and Yoke fellows. This was a simple step for I am an ex-con. I enjoyed submitting to my Pastor and Elder's AND defending their authority. Maybe one day the Lord will promote me to a more prominent position, but for now, I take great pride in functioning as a follower who tries to lead other followers. The Lord Jesus bless you all.

Your position is as prominent as anyone else in the Kingdom. We're all equal at the foot of the cross. God bless you brother and thank you for serving.

I get it now. If we have a heart to help one another, that is 100% correct and we apply the necessary effort (as led by the HS), and prayer. Experience in this area then might qualify one for leadership. (serving) Thanks for reply,

In some cases of church leadership I see competition. My first promotion to a salaried position in the secular business world was due to my working myself ragged. Actually Mgmt. had no choice but to give me a promotion. I have seen this within the church. I am guilty as a lay person of knowing through the written word exactly what I should be doing, but experiencing a failure to carry it out due to a lack of good, old fashioned love for my neighbor. There is an element of competition among churches, pastors and anyone involved with the organized church. Church should not be managed like a fortune 500 company. It should be fun. The biggest challenge of church leadership may very well be the ability to put the knowledge gained through study and experience into practice by a loving faith, produced by the Holy Spirit, and a keen focus on Christ, His cross, and His resurrection life. 1Cor.8 [1] Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. Eph.3 [21] Unto God be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

dwain If more people would do as you have we would be winning the fight to win the world for Christ. All can not lead(some that do try should not) So being at the place the Lords wants you to service is the answer! Bless you and your work!

Hello dwain Are you not confusing the term "follower" with "learner?" If you word in someone's else's ministry you are a learner. Your witness to prisoners can be mighty. They need to see that someone has been in their condition but the Lord has given them a life. They also need hope that once they are in prison and released that they don't have to fear of going back in again. As you probably know, the returns to prison are high. In all of this, it might help you to sit at the feet of Jesus through prayer. He may make you a leader one day. Notice I said, He. You may take all kinds of Bible training and even seminary but the Lord is the real trainer and the one who ordains.

Thanks very much, jn. I need encouragement, and you are right, nothing helps like Christ and His promises. I like to find that agreement too, that as long as we are willing to seek him, He can be found, and He will teach us. Realistically sometimes I feel like this: 2Cor.1 [8] For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: I have been back to prison (on a ministry basis) and I know the Lord was with me now, even though I was pretty immature (at that time) and getting some things straight as far as His word is concerned. Thanks again for your post- your word helps.
