Well, still nothing from any of the law enforcement stuff, but I do have some awesome news on a totally separate front.

A number of months ago, I had asked you all for prayer for a gal who works for my dad. Long-story short - Her husband had tried to kill her, etc. There is much more, but we'll leave it there. Anyway, the police have been looking for this guy ever since then. He has all kinds of felony warrants up here and even more immigration warrants (that will lock him up for many years - with no trial). They couldn't find him though and he continued to harrass and threaten her over the phone, etc.

Well, THEY CAUGHT HIM!!!!!!!! Actually, police in California did for something totally separate. He got drunk and caused a bad accident. While they were holding him, they figured out his true identity (he goes by many aliases). Apparently, he is looking at a bunch of felony charges down in California and they set his bail at $580,000. And that has nothing to do with the immigration charges and charges in Washington he is also facing. He is going to be going away for a REALLY long time.

God is so good!

It's an enormous weight lifted off everyone's shoulders. She can finally rest a little knowing he isn't waiting around the corner to attack her again.

What a day. Our computers at work just kept getting worse and worse and finally bit the dust. The computer guy came in and I spent the first half of the day just trying to think of things to do that didn't require a computer. Which is hard because 99% of my job is on the computer. Finally, after lunch I asked my boss what the server prognosis was and he said not good. Apparently, our server got infected with a virus and even the "virus" expert was having a hard time getting it cleaned up. It kept coming back. So, I decided that even though I am running out of vacation time, I would rather get some personal errands done than sit in my office twidding my thumbs.

And I'm still waiting for news... any news on the job front... I did email the gal from the department that I still haven't heard a peep from regarding my scores & ranking for deputy (she seems to do everything via email - which is good, because I'm an email kinda gal ). Not sure who or when to call for the corrections job. I'm not sure if I should even be concerned at this point.

Sigh...

Thanks! After this week, I needed some laughs.

Well, I'm still waiting if anyone is wondering...

In other news, I called my city offices today regarding the 4 delinquent notices I received Weds for my annual pet license renewals. They had doubled the fees with late fees and I had never received the original bill. Turns out, I was the 4th person to call and complain so they waived the fees. They think a glitch happened and a number of us never got our notices (I know I didn't). That made me feel MUCH better because it's $40 to license all 4 of my critters and with doubled fees, that meant they wanted $80. Ouch.

In other ironic news, after one of our musicians spent 8 hours working on arranging music for the ensemble I'm coaching/singing in for our church's Christmas production, then I spent hours working even more on it, then another choir leader who used to be a music pastor spent many more hours finishing it up so we could finally have the music today to start practicing for our performance less than a month away, well, the music store just called and said the sheet music we had been trying to find for months just came in today.

Oy.

So, is the computer at work now functioning, or are you getting a three-day weekend?

The server is now functioning - although it wasn't when we got here. I finally called the boss after we were here more than an hour (Friday is his day off) to find out the status (he won't give any of us the tech guys number - don't ask ). He didn't even know. So he had the tech guy call and apparently there was another issue but at least all it took was shutting down and restarting the server and now we are finally up and running - and running well...

INTERRUPTING THIS POST FOR NEWS!!!!!!!

I've just received 2 emails from friends who were just called by the detective doing my background investigation for the jail. And my co-worker said he has called here too for a few of my work references. I'm still alive in the process!

It is. I was beginning to have memories of last year's experience with the other police department. I am so happy to know that I'm still moving forward!
