I spent some time over on sharpeningiron.com for a while before they shut down. (LOL, just remembered, somebody over there decided that I was a closet gay... but that's another story)... The thing about hanging out with people that you agree with all the time is that, well, they agree all the time. It's a good refuge, but it either gets boring, or you get lulled into thinking the State of the Church is Strong... or you get lulled into thinking that there are more Christians in the world than really... or if nothing else, you aren't spreading any truth. (Not that I am casting any stones from my glass house there...)

Eh... update, I just joined the forum recommended by Doug, and have already found someone who disagrees with me (and who, I predict, probably will accuse me of having "Western logic" in due time)... so all is well... 
... Speaking of "western logic" vs "eastern logic"....
Ravi Zacharias tells a story of one time when he was in India talking to a Hindu guy. The Hindu explains that with "western logic" everything is either/or. But that with Hindu (aka "eastern" logic), things are never either/or... but are both/and.
The Hindu guy goes on to say, "Ravi, the problem you have is that you are approaching the world using western logic. In order to see the truth you have to use eastern logic."
So Ravi says to the guy, "Let me get this straight... EITHER I switch to using eastern logic, OR I will never find the truth... is that correct?"
And the Hindu guy stops for a long while and gets a strange expression on his face, then finally says, "Yes, it does appear that either/or seems to worm its way into everything."
(Ravi also notes that even in India they look both ways before crossing the street, because it is "either the bus or me... both will not survive")

I'm Connie.
Reformed Theology with an open hand on some non-essentials (meaning less emphasis on form than function).
Raised in the LCMS as a kid.
Worked with the Military Ministry in CCC for 4 years.
Member of PCA church for 3 years.
Today, husband and I are church plants in the Acts29 Network of church planters.
Did I mention that we're reformed since that is the golden ticket to this thread?

Have my own views on supra/infra... let's just say God transcends time and so his election does too, but predestination is made necessary by the working out through time.
Slowly turning into a treehugger... but this is not the same thing as an Algore hugger.
Used to be a zealot for reformed apologetics, now I'm seeing a lot of leopards with spots and dogs eating stuff they shouldn't. (I'd be an optimist, but... like that would work out... heh!)
Grew up Catholic... PCUSA in late high school... uninterested through college... RCA after college for about 5 years, [probably regenerated around 2002, still figuring out when that was-- I know I exist today though.]... PCUSA about 3 years... currently at Sovereign Grace Ministries church**.
... eh... hmm...
I like puppies and sunny days and cool nights and I support whirled peas.
**I'm in SGM, but I'm not necessarily a credobaptist.

Orthodox Presbyterian
Now PCUSA
Seems like alphabet soup if you all would toss everyone into a pot. I like some deeper
reading, especially Jonathan Edwards, but exacerbated by the minute details of rightness.
Looking at the short end of life, it's easier than we make it in most cases.

We just got some samples of the new kid's ministry material to look at that's being implemented by Covenant Life. God's World? God's Word?
I can't remember the name of it...anyways, we're looking at it for our church plant come January.
It appears to be just what we need.

Regarding the book... Sorry... I was trying to be funny with a play on "War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy"...
I listen to Car Talk on NPR... at the end of the show, they list all the engineers and producers, and then they go on to thank a bunch of fake people like their "Russian chauffuer, Pikov Andropov"... their "Air Traffic Controller, Ulanda U. Lucky"... their "Bowling Coach, Menachem Down"... and their "Leo Tolstoy biographer, Warren Peace". (I just realized I misspelled Mr. Peace's name).
I won't provide a link because some of the names and job descriptions are...well... I just won't provide a link.

Have you seen their TV program AND their new cartoon show both on public TV this year? I listened to them a lot of years before I saw them the first time when they spoke at a university graduation. It's always interesting to put faces to voices you've heard over the radio.

yes...that's it...duh!
We looked at the kid's sample and the adult sample and they looked great for us, but our demographic has kids 8 and up above so far.
I used to have this cool t-shirt that had a green pea on it spinning around with the words, whirled peas across it.

Jiimbo, I have seen their cartoon... I couldn't quite figure it out. It seemed like it was adult oriented (both in content and time slot), and their interludes were about driving safety. But at the same time, the plot was childish. Kind of strange.
Doink, The nice thing about God's Story is that they have all ages available, and everybody studies the same thing at the same time (but age appropriately)... which facilitates family followup during the week. (Or, theoretically...)

Yep, that's the goal we have.
It also puts the "spiritual ball," so to speak in the man's lap where it belongs.
