Bentley is currently separated from his wife, Shonnah.[12] They have three children. It has been announced by the board of directors of Freshfire Ministries that Bentley has stepped down as leader of that ministry following the revelation of an "unhealthy relationship of an emotional nature with a female member of his staff" and the current estrangement between him and his wife.[13]

Stephen Strader, Pastor of the Ignited Church mentioned that Bentley had deliberately kept him out of the loop and stated "Three years ago, he did the exact same thing. He grew out of his relationship to his wife and transferred his affection to another . . . The bottom line is that he was traveling too much and not taking care of his wife and family like he should."[14]

John Arnott, Pastor of the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship writes that "Todd Bentley has chosen to do something that is wrong according to Scripture, and his timing to announce it was equally inappropriate... Furthermore, it has now come out that there has been some inappropriate behavior, both with excessive drinking and also with a female member of his staff. Please don't jump to conclusions or assume the worst, but this behavior is wrong before the Lord.[15]

And C. Peter Wagner, founder of Global Harvest Ministries and one of the apostles that Todd asked to oversee the Lakeland Revival, issued an email update on Todd in which he said, "First of all, Todd has been removed from public ministry until further notice. He has resigned from the ministry he founded, Fresh Fire, so he is no longer a part of that board. It has become clear that he indulged in periodic drunkenness. He has no intention at the moment of reconciling with Shonna, nor does she with him. Their marriage has been torn for years by his emotional attachment with at least one other female whose physical contact went beyond hugging and kissing and holding hands. Enough said-maybe more details will be revealed later-but it was clearly immoral. All of this was skillfully concealed by lying and by swearing close associates who had observed his behavior to secrecy.” .[16]

Looks like someone updated wikipedia on Todd.

not just yours but many on this board do it..

I, once, mentioned his child sex offender crimes. One post out of hundreds out of me regarding his teachings, claims and practices.

ORIGINAL: teclils

I was thinking about this in prayer this morning and it is not what you all are saying but it is how your are saying it and your approach. What you are saying you use scripture to back it up and that is good but how your coming across is harsh and the fact that most of it is talking bad about people etc. You can approach something in a way that is more loving and GOD focused instead of the negative...JMHO

Then please do so - it is easy when his teachings, claims and practices are unbiblical at best, heretical at worst. Show us, by exmaple, how you would point that out to someone without being "unloving" as you say I have been.

But the REAL clincher here for me is that by your own estimate - Jesus, the Apostle Paul and many others would be as guilty as me (if not moreso) of your charge.

Heh.

Wagner on Bentley:

quote:

Speaking of the public figure going down the tubes, Todd Bentley now carries the label of a liar and a deceiver. I’m sorry to mention it, but I felt personally deceived in the same way when Ted Haggard’s sin was exposed and he was immediately removed from ministry. In the Lakeland I case, I am elated at the way things are turning out. The Revival Alliance with whom Todd was aligned on June 23 has kicked into action with a vengeance. Ché Ahn and Bill Johnson, like me, were overseas when things broke, but John Arnott stepped up to the plate and moved in apostolically. It has since become clear that Todd’s Fresh Fire Board could not have handled the situation, Stephen Strader and Ignited Church could not, nor could any of his other close friends. Only the Revival Alliance could. I am delighted that they are not buying into typical charismatic soft morality, also called “greasy grace” or “don’t touch God’s anointed” or “mercy must triumph over judgment,” phrases that have been used on other similar occasions as convenient religious cop-out excuses. They’re proceeding in love, but it is tough love!

Apparently some of his board members did, but they did not have the ability to deal with it.

Wow, talk about egg on the faces of the false teachers and prophets that anointed him as the next big thing.

The Counterfeit Revival circles never cease to amaze me. Satan must be laughing up a storm at so many biblically ignorant individuals.

We no longer need to deal with Lakeland I and Bentley as such. However, we have a list of 24 serious issues that have emerged from that unpleasant experience which need to be thoroughly discussed with the conclusions circulated in the body of Christ. If you have seen Dutch Sheets’ recent “A Statement and Appeal Regarding Lakeland” you will get a glimpse of some of the things that we agree need to become standard operational beliefs and practices, particularly in our charismatically-inclined evangelical segment of the church.

Say talking about sex offender,(not that I have great feelings forTodd)Wasn't David a sex offender when ask Bathsheba to come into his bedroom and do the act?

yes and David suffered the CONSEQUENCES of his sin... that is the baby died, and his sons suffered consequeces too. Bathsheba also suffered the loss of her and David's baby, everyone suffered! dont use that as an excuse to sin yourself just in case you thought you could.

Once again I am not excusing Todd's bad behavior. But as one person I know who is lost as far as I know. Would say; "If there be life then there is hope for someone to turn around.

Yes David did get very humble after his big head let him down.

Wagner on Bentley:

quote:

The final question is: Was it successful? Looking back, I praise God for using me and others to help bring order to confusion, which is one of the chief biblical tasks of an apostle. Stephen Strader, who has been keeping records, affirms that the evil that the prince of the power of the air had been subtly introducing into the Outpouring I started to be exposed and unraveled the day after the alignment, June 24! Spiritually, this is very understandable. Just about every leader I knew had discerned that Lakeland I was a mixture of the godly and the ungodly. We were praying in one accord that the evil would be separated from the good. My take is that God had decided to answer these prayers and in order to facilitate His process, He assigned me and the Revival Alliance leaders and others who were with us to align Todd Bentley apostolically for the first time in his life. When we did this publicly, spiritual transactions took place in the invisible world that would not allow the enemy to maintain the veil of secrecy he had carefully placed over the Outpouring. The evil was exposed, Revival Alliance had the authority to deal with it, and the net result is that order is replacing chaos in the body of Christ.

Hindsight they say is 20/20. It now turns out that all of the rumors were true. It now turns out that the Scriptural discernment was correct. It now turns out that this was the same hyper-Charismatic craziness without accountability that the leadership of the sponsoring church is known for. The three ring circus has been packed up, the tents have been taken down, the moral failure has been announcement, everyone involved is pushing back and thousands of hurting people are left questioning God and their salvation. The question that I now have to ask myself…the question that will haunt me for quite a while is…did I sit on the sidelines while the playing field burned? Should have I blogged about it…spoken out about it publicly…done more to get the word out to the rest of the world that this whole thing was about Todd and not God? I took care of my own house…but should I have done more to take care of the entire neighborhood?”

SHOULD I?

Yeah, especially when you compare what Wagner actually said during that "alignment" service with what he's written in recent statements. The words that Wagner said at the service itself.

Originally from Charisma magazine:

“This commissioning represents a powerful spiritual transaction taking place in the invisible world. With this in mind, I take the apostolic authority that God has given me and I decree to Todd Bentley, your power will increase, your authority will increase, your favor will increase, your influence will increase, your revelation will increase…”

“I have been the worship leader at a certain church for the past three years. The elders of our church pushed Lakeland hard on the flock. I knew it was wrong but stood by and let it happen. Last week I wrote a five page letter to the elders about a few problems I see, but dealing largely with the Lakeland mess. I called for public repentance from the elders AND myself for leading the flock astray. Sunday night i was called into an elders meeting, where I sat for three hours and listened to every explanation in the world of why they weren’t in the wrong. It started becoming apparent to me that if these guys defended the sheep with the same zeal that they defend Todd Bentley, the church would be in great shape. By the end of the meeting, I knew that I could no longer justify having my family under their leadership, and stepped down from my position.

So, I’m another casualty of the Lakeland disaster. The fallout of this thing is gonna be huge. My heart breaks for the families and churches this deception has torn apart. A big THANK YOU to this site for looking out for the sheep, even when the shepherds are not.”

Answer: You are to be commended for taking a stand - after the Lord opened the eyes of your understanding to the deception in the ‘church’. The Lord is seeing to it that those that want to follow Him in truth - are not deceived, but delivered out. This was a ‘good’ thing that happened as it brought you out from those you ‘thought’ were your brothers. All things do work to good for ‘those that love God’ and are called according to His purpose’; therefore, even the Lakeland ‘circus’ was for the Glory of God, but not in the way the false prophets thought it would be.
It served to ‘expose’ them and those like them.

Now my question is this....

Many of us have been with this ordeal since page 1.. it has now been 146 pages of time, love, patience, obedience to God's Word, warning, study, apologetics, rebuking, correction and instruction.

Where are all of those that for 146 pages gave many of us grief for daring to question this counterfeit revival?

Where are you now?

I really do want tecilis to show us all how to do what the Bible mandates believers to do.. but in the loving way he says we're not doing it in.

And I am not being cynical.

From an article I read on psychology, they go deeper into

This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
