I followed what was going on in Pensacola with the Brownsville Revival like a sick soap opera, but this new "outpouring" has ratched the creepiness factor up a few notches. If Bentley and his cohorts are entertaining "angelic" visits and other weirdness, they are leaving the realm of manufacturing miracles and experiences and moving directly into the occult.

I thought you were kidding about that one until I looked it up, and there it is in the bulletin. Color me gobsmacked. I'm sitting here shaking my head at the audacity and shamelessness of this man.

Looks like Todd has made his motives crystal clear.

Took another look at the updated newsletter. I wish the person typing it up would be delivered from the demon of bad grammar and the demon of using-way-too-many-exclamation-marks.

Yeah, and got an "F". It _is_ a point that their "updates" are hyped-up for effect.

I have a friend who will undoubetly will be into this movement. He went down to Brownville had loved it; he has been slain in the spirit. He thought God was calling him to marry of woman he had known for only a few weeks and had been through eight marriages. He flies on emotion rather than reason.

The sad thing is despite being a Christian for many years, he is biblically illeterate. When shown such things as being "slain in the spirit" can't be supported from scripture he ignores them claiming he has had such an experience. Also, nothing came from that experience.

That said, he is the type of individuals who pack such places.

...because three osprey carrying fish is a signifcant occurrence! Today's post.

"Suddenly, out of no where… THREE OSPREY’S (they look just like small eagles) FLY OVER THE INFIELD CARRYING FISH IN THEIR MOUTHS!!! THE CROWD SCREAMS!!!

The crowd begins to chant – JESUS, JESUS, JESUS… we can’t control them…
"

There's a long quote from a friend of William Branham-- Branham, who is constantly held in regard by some despite his doctrine, his angel-dependent "miracles", and his bizarre and unscriptural "calling" as a "prophet", all of which can be found on the Branham website.

Some seem to have the idea that you can't argue with the leaders because of the "miracles". My idea is that I should dispute the "miracles" as well as the legitimacy of the leaders and their teaching when they depart from Scripture and teach unseen angels, trips to heaven and a reliance on "prophecy" to legitimize their activities.

Failure to rely on Scripture may result in chanting "Jesus" when you see an osprey with a fish in its mouth.

If Bentley is so bad, why would God bother showing up and touching so many lives during these conferences?

God shows up all the time; haven't you heard the term "omnipresent?" What is taking place is sheer emotionalism. Can God use this for his glory? Sure. But He works on His terms and not on ours.

I agree with colliefan on the emotionalism, something which might give a 20-minute placebo "healing". Could God in His mercy touch somebody there despite the false hype? Yes. But one may read the daily updates again while considering how a false revival is built on hype and see how thin the "miracles" are.

Please drop something in the chicken bucket on the way out. Thank you.

Glory Orb!!! LOL!

You laugh but. . . HERE THEY ARE!

These people have never heard of a lens flare. . .

My husband took a picture in Israel at just the right time of day so the rays of the sun filtered down and it looked like a rainbow raining down.
So from that picture we could come up with some pretty "interesting" stuff.

Just goes to show you that in the end days people will believe anything because they don't know the Word and what it says about seducing spirits.
If I'm not mistaken, most if not all cults and even major religious groups aka Islam, Morman came into being because someone had a dream, vision or apperition of a angel showing them some "special" thing.
Oy Vay!!!

Could not the same be argued for Mormon or Jehovah Witnesses conferences?

The point is that they all fail the test of Scripture.

How do we know it is really G~d? I have been in some meetings in my life where people were being "touched" and it was really creepy. All it takes is a few people having these "experiences" and the crowd hysteria takes over and everyone wants in on it. It is amazing what our minds can come up with.
And don't get me wrong, I believe whole heartedly in true manifestations of the Holy Spirit. I have also been in some meetings where G~d showed up and it was amazing. But what I find interesting is that when He does show up, like Isaiah who said "woe is me I am a man undone" when in the Presense of the Most High that is usually what happens. We see our unclean selves in His Perfection and we are humbled not glorified.

Ah, you noticed that! Branham could do nothing without his "angel", and the letter from Andrew Strom I linked to previously has Bob Jones stateing that everything in KC was started by mothering angel Emma. As you point out, bad company to be in.
Here's the quote: "He told me that Emma was the angel that helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s."

Somewhere there's a comment about Kansas and Auntie Em but I haven't thought of it yet.

Though in all seriousness-I have a friend who was just telling me about this "Florida Revival" last night...and she buys it hook, line and sinker. It's sad really.

There is nothing about his tatooes that is wrong; what is wrong is his theology. Look at the mass hysteria over Obama, God can heal you where you are - if it is within his will.

What concerns me is the message this sends to channel surfers bored with nothing do to on a Saturday night.

I did. Do I need to dig up the Scriptures on Jonah being mad enough to die, Elijah asking to die? Is it about feeling fire and honey and pursuing that experience in the name of God or is it more about obedience?

Todd used the buzz terms that he was haveing supernatural dreams and angelic visitations and some want to run to those things. Paul was content in whatever state he was in. He wasn't in the "state" of Florida, he didn't need to be, and I won't be chasing after Emma or the ospreys anytime soon.

This angel Emma bothers me. When angels start naming themselves it smacks of spirit guides and new age stuff. If this angel was saying it was a mothering angel it got it's name a little wrong. Mother in Hebrew is Ima with the "I" sounding like a long e sound. So it would sound like E(long e sound) ma not Emma as in Auntie Em.
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Gal. 1:8-9
